Many children today are suffering silently because they don't know how to identify and communicate their uncomfortable feelings. This rhyming children's book is about stress and worry. Through this book, children will discover tools to help them cope, identify and move beyond these uncomfortable feelings.
Yet another wonderful book written by Carissa Jackson.
With the increase of mental health challenges in children since the pandemic, it is very timely that Carissa has written such a unique book that has been created specifically for children.
A self-empowerment book for a child to read, that is not only a gateway for understanding emotional struggles, but also provides tools for learning, coping and healing.
A child that can develop resilience, is an adult with greater potential. One that can endure hardships and celebrate successes.
I will be recommending this book in my private practice.

The purpose of writing Blots, Dots and Sticky Thoughts is to
empower children to have more control over their emotional wellbeing.
In a time when children are inundated by outside influence,
this story gives them the opportunity to slow their pace, reflect on
their emotions, and most importantly it allows them to harness the
magic inside them.
Children, like adults, encounter daily challenges that can lead to
stress and worry. Introducing healthy coping tools from an early age
is a transformative approach to building emotional resilience. Lyle is a
relatable character, she is a character that represents resilience and
perseverance. In this story, she learns to dig deep and harness her
imagination to create her friend, Leeto.
Leeto, the secondary character in the book is an imaginary sloth who
embodies qualities of kindness, love and unwavering support.
Together, Lyle and Leeto embark on an adventure in search of wellbeing.
By incorporating practical tools seamlessly into this story, it
not only entertains but also equips children with skills that will
positively impact their lives. This story promotes emotional
intelligence and a healthier approach to handling stress and worry.
My goal is for children dealing with stress and worry to find familiarity
with Lyle and through this connection with her, have them feel a
sense of belonging and comfort. I wanted to create a supportive
environment so children feel comfortable expressing their emotions,
sharing their challenges, and celebrating their growth.
Ultimately, Lyle and Leeto show children that they are not alone. Lyle
embraces her authenticity, learns from her experiences and gains
knowledge. Teaching children coping tools and helping them learn to
manage their emotions will also make their path smoother and more
enjoyable.
